Defibrillator Campaign

We have recently adopted our local phone box on Leeds Road, it’s a bit of an eye sore which keeps flooding and doesn’t serve the community. We are adding a defibrillator into the space as well as turning it into a community noticeboard.

Recently, a local business needed a defibrillator in an emergency situation but they were unable to access it due to Safeguarding. Our defibrillator will be accessible 24/7, 365 days a year.

But, the kit doesn’t come cheap. We are lucky enough to be working with Community Heartbeat trust who help us adopt the space and will help install everything. We are also extremely lucky that Oakland (Data Consultancy based in Leeds) donated to our charity as part of their end of year giving. This meant that we have received £1,500 which will be going towards our costs to get the community space up and running.

We are still a long way from our target, this is where we need your help! We estimate that the project will cost us £4,000 so we need to raise a further £2,500 at least.

Here’s our estimated breakdown of costs …

Managed Insurance & Cover (incl. theft) £350.00
Lifeline View £1055.00
Defib Safe £550.00
Defib Signage £35.00
Rescue Safety Kit £15.00
Delivery £25.00
Installation Costs £200.00
Phone box Renovations ~£1,500

Any left over funds will kept in reserves for repairs, replacement kits in case of emergency use and expiry dates and any ongoing safety testing.

We also be providing free face-to-face community training so everyone can be confident in how to use the defibrillator.

Established in 2016, Oatlands Community Group is a voluntary, charity organisation located in the heart of the Oatlands area of Harrogate.

Our main aim is the creation of community spirit and a sense of shared belonging enriching our community for future generations.  We are not about making money, more about building community spirit and having fun at the same time.

In 2023, our fundraising focus is Oatlands Community Centre where most of our events are held. Any funds donated to Oatlands Community Centre will be put towards paying off the buildings mortgage. Our focus for events in the first quarter of 2023 is providing warm spaces in the community for all generations.

We have also widened our net and are offering support far wider than the ‘Oatlands’ area. If you need help, would like to volunteer or, have any questions about any of the initiatives or events that we are running, please do get in touch, we would love to hear from you.
